This program is an introduction to the concept of volleyball in a fun, no pressure environment. It is a well structured curriculum that teaches, motor development, team play and the following volleyball skills;

  • ready position with defensive movement
  • proper tossing, catching and tracking a ball
  • overhead volley, setting for a hitter
  • forearm passing, serve reception & individual defence
  • serving, underhand/overhand
  • spiking, tipping
  • blocking with footwork

It is a 9-10 week program, for 1.5 hours each session which includes a general fitness component, the teaching of volleyball skill development, and the reinforcement of these skills through cooperative and competitive games and activities. These games include circulation ball, smackdown, modified volleyball and Smashball.

The children will be divided into homogenous colour groups (teams) based on age, previous program experience and similar skill progressions. This allows for individual coaches to teach skill development according to their appropriate developmental stage.

On the final day of the program, there will be a team volleyball skills competition and a modified game tournament.
