HAMILTON, Ont. - The McMaster Marauders women's volleyball team is thrilled to welcome their newest recruits to the 2022-23 class with the signing of Alex Slavcev and Megan Di Francesco to the program.
 
"It is a pleasure to welcome our most recent athletes to the program as we continue to strengthen our depth down the bench and in the training room," said Head Coach, women's volleyball, Tim Louks.
 
Alex Slavcev is currently in her final year at Resurrection Catholic Secondary School and has intentions of Kinesiology in the fall.
 
"I chose McMaster because of the stellar academic and athletic opportunities it offers, and cannot wait to be a part of a team filled with such amazing athletes and people," said Slavcev.
 
A three time D8 First-Team All-Star at the high school level, Slavcev was also named Most Valuable Player in grades nine, ten, and twelve for her Resurrection Catholic Secondary School team. She was also named the 2022 D8 Girl's Volleyball League Most Valuable Player.
 
"I am so excited to be able to continue my training and further improve my skills and abilities as a volleyball player at McMaster," said Slavcev. "I hope that I will be an asset to the team through the next few seasons."
 
At the club level, Slavcev competes for the Kitchener-Waterloo Predators Volleyball Club and has gone on to win 3 provincial gold medals and 3 national gold medals. She was also awarded the 15u Award of Excellence for the 2019-20 season.
 
"Alex will bring great experience coming from the very strong Predators club team in Kitchener," said Louks. "She has great ball control skills and experience in the Outside Hitter position from both sides of the volleyball court. Our practice room just got more positive competition energy with her addition."
