TORONTO - Waterloo native Zack Morden will be joining the Toronto Metropolitan University men's volleyball roster this 2022-23 season, as the second player in this season's recruiting class.

The middle played six seasons with the Kitchener Waterloo Predators, and three for his high school team, the Waterloo Collegiate Institute (WCI) Vikings.

Being invited to play for the Predators' U18 Ubuntu team has been the highlight of Morden's athletic career so far, saying he considers himself lucky to be a part of a club culture with such "passionate and skilled individuals", players and coaching staff alike.

"Zack comes from a high ranking OVA club with a strong coaching staff," Rams head coach Matt Harris said, "and has the ability to perform at a high level in the middle, with strengths in both blocking and attacking," he added.

Describing himself as an athlete who is constantly pushing himself, Morden's own passion and drive will only add to the team's ambitious young core, who will be chasing a championship this upcoming season.

Volleyball aside though, the middle says it was the school spirit at sporting events that drew him to the squad, as well as the academic programs offered at the university and its prime location – right next to Toronto's illustrious Financial District.

A recipient of the Business subject award during his time at WCI, Morden will be pursuing a Bachelor of Business Management at the Ted Rogers School of Management come fall, alongside his athletic endeavours.

The recruit says that the determination and grit that volleyball has taught him has lent itself positively to other aspects of his life, and the team is pleased to have him, as both a student and an athlete.
