The 13U Preds continued their journey of learning this past Saturday when they played-up competing in their first 14U tournament, the Bugarski Cup in Kitchener. The Preds were seeded 9th out of nine teams as they had never played in 14U.

The Preds got off to a slow start as they struggled to find their consistency on serving and communication losing both round-robin matches to Forest City Blue 11-25, 17-25 and Cambridge Hawks 19-25, 13-25. It was at that point that the Preds picked up their play!

The first round playoff match pitted the Preds against a 13U rival from Tier I in Georgetown Impact. Full of confidence, the Preds dominated Georgetown with consistent and effective serving as well as a drive to win finishing them off in quick fashion 25-10, 26-24. From there, it was off to a show down with the number one seeded Brant Tornadoes.

The first set versus Brant was a passing and serving clinic put on by the Preds as they played hard and were awarded with a 25-16 win. The second and third sets were slightly different as lack of consistency played a big part in 8-25, 8-15 losses to Brant. Unfortunately, it was off to the 5th place match.

The final match of the day featured the Preds against Waterloo Tigers Red. The Preds were not going let anyone stand in their way of their top five finish controlling all facets of the match winning 25-16, 25-20.

This finish sets-up the Preds for a great final few weeks of practice as they prepare for the Provincial Championships March 29th and 30th.
