About Us
Ravage is the 15U Boys Volleyball team that is a member of the Kitchener-Waterloo Predators Volleyball Club in Ontario, Canada. This team is in its second year of its five year cycle and competes throughout Ontario, Canada and the United States.
History
Beginning in 2008 head coach Barrett Schitka began working with this unique group of individuals, many of which had little to no volleyball experience. Through dedication, discipline and hard work the boys (at that time know as Predators Phalanx) dramatically improved establishing themselves as one of the top teams in both the province and the country. In 2008/2009 Phalanx securred a Bronze Medal at the 2009 Ontario Provincial Championships and finished in the Top 5 at the 2009 Canadian West Championships in Abbotsford, BC.
Team Philosophy and Guiding Principles
Ravage is based on a training philosophy that includes:
- Discipline - Our athletes understand the importance of details and discipline. Through this understanding our athletes are able to perform their skills to the highest degree of execution and consistency.
- Commitment - At Ravage and Predators it is important that athletes learn to be committed themselves. As such we expect that our athletes truly commit themselves to the team philosophy and way of operating, and in doing so take these principles on to and off the volleyball court.
- Fitness - The game of volleyball has a very complex set of physical demands. In order for our team to compete at the highest levels of competition it is our belief that athletes must be well conditioned to respond to these demands. In order to acheive this we incorporate fitness both within our on-court training regime as well as off-court and off-season.
- Knowledge - It is important that our athletes understand the 'Why' behind our theories and techniques allowing our athletes to implement them in the many situations that occur in the modern volleyball game.
- Class - Our team operates on the principles of class and sportsmanship. We want our team to be a team that others enjoy playing against or watching play.
