Ravage 15U Boys Assume #1 Ranking in Ontario
March 4th, 2010
The 15U Ravage boys travelled to Barrie this past Saturday to compete in the 15U Bugarski Cup. The boys started off the day against one of their rivals, Forest City Green. They had a slow start to the day but managed to split the two games (26-24, 25-27). With their second and last game of pool play, they had to face off with the second seed in the tournament, Durham Attack Black. With one of the boys best showings of the season, they easily downed the Attack 25-11, 25-15. At the end of pool play, Ravage finished 1st in their pool solitifying their spot into the quarter finals. The boys then had to face off with the Northumberland Breakers. With a strong showing in the first set, winning it 25-20, Ravage then quickly fell behind quickly in the second set, 2-12, but the boys stayed with it and fought hard and managed to win the long set, 29-27 advancing them to the semi finals against Markham Stingers. It was an easy birth to the finals as Ravage cruised 25-12, 25-13. With the boys tired from a long day, their biggest competition was still to come. The boys had to square off with Pakmen Black. Ravage fought hard in the first set, and managed to come out with a win with a score of 25-20. It was a tough second set, narrowly losing 21-25. That meant that the day wasn't done, and the boys weren't ready to give up. They came out flying and jumped to an early lead and managed to hang on for a thrilling 15-11 win to complete a golden day. This is the boys first Tier 1 medal. The team and coaches are very happy and proud with the results. Let's keep working hard and we will succeed with our goals.
A big thank you to coaches Brandon Schitka and Russ Woloshyn who led the boys to their strong performance with Head Coach Barrett Schitka away at OCAA provincials.
Go Preds Go!!!
